I work not far away and go here maybe 2X month. Their pizza is superb, and I've had NY style pizza from all around the area. The house dressing is homemade, and loaded with red wine. they will even prepare a "personal" size pizza for you. The family is first gen Neapolitan that had a store near the Winthrop U campus for many years. The decor may be dated and a bit tacky, but that in no way detracts from the good food. try it once. you'll be back

This is an awesome place period! Ice cold pitchers of beer, ice cold mugs , and hand tossed pizza of any kind! or go stupid for the stuffed pizza and add jalapeños and anchovies for a salty hot pie! Tomato and mozzarella was to pretty to eat but we did anyway! Have had the mussels and pasta as well as the Italian sandwich with the homemade sauce! The staff is mostly family and after several months they almost treat me like family! Disregard the unintelligent and picky lady's negative review as she has left six negative reviews out of eight restaurants! She reviewed McDonald's, really, who does that! Maybe try a little home cooking in your singlewide before you trash a great place like this one! And, she didnt get that big not eating, shes gorging somewhere!

I don't post reviews often but this place deserves high praises. The portions were huge, you definitely could split an entrée with a friend and both be full! The calamari was unreal and the marinara that comes with it is leaps and bounds over what comes with the breadsticks. Great little spot and very affordable. Perfect for a date night!

First off, air conditioning was non existent, secondly, service was slow and pretty bad. When she did talk to us it was quick, curt, and not very friendly. Thirdly, food was awful. Mostly frozen, or packaged, nothing fresh. Was not expecting a fine dining experience, but at 18 dollars a plate, it should of been much better. Won't go again, don't recommend at all.

They are not at 2387 Cherry Rd, it's a Wendy's now. Walk a few steps further to Lebo Mall and try Mario's Pizza. Full Italian menu great food good value, great service.

Went to the new Waxhaw location for dinner last night and it's very authentic in the appearance as well as the taste. The atmosphere is equivalent to any little Italian village. There are grapes and vines with white lights that hang over the swirly black iron decor. There are Italian themed trinkets, bowls, etc to accent all the little corners. The walls are hand-painted with grapes and vines. And what Italian restaurant is complete without the red checkered table cloths? Bella! So, my parents literally just moved here (2 Italian New Yorkers), they are starving and we drive to the closest Italian restaurant in Waxhaw. Our expectations weren't high coming from a family of northern pizzerias and trattorias. Well, we were first blown away by the extensive menu. Wondering how a chef can possibly have such a large menu and be able to make all of these things on a nightly basis. They offer every sauce, every pasta, every authentic baked dish, every Italian chicken dish, plus salads, appetizers, pizzas....the list goes on. Anyway, we ordered some hand-breaded mozzarella sticks to start which were creamy as can be inside. They certainly hit the spot and were a great inclination for what was to come. "So far....impressed" Then we received our dinner - Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Francais and Chicken Picatta. There was a big sigh of relief amongst the 3 of us as we took our first bite. "Wow, this is actually really good". We kept sharing and biting off one another's dishes wowed by every bite of the perfectly creamy lemon blend from the Francais to the surprise of the ricotta cheese layers on the Parm and then the sultry wine sauce on the Picatta. Not to mention the chicken that was pounded to tenderness. You didn't even need a knife. Every dish was served with your choice of either a side of pasta (once again, your choice of any type of pasta) or having it served over the pasta. We were informed of this as we were ordering because as the sweet waitress said "everything is made to order". When she came back to check on us we asked about the chef because everything was on point. Then she told us that the owner, Luigi himself, is from Italy. Aha! That explains! His sons and some daughters work at the locations and it was some of his sons that made the dishes perfectly crafted from, I'm sure, Luigi's own authentic Italian recipes. We spoke to the chef that evening and he was very down to earth, easy to talk to and very nice. It was even better to know that the whole business is ran by one family. We didn't stop there. Our taste buds were dancing in the middle of an Italian village, so to put the icing on the cake or should I say...inside of a cannoli shell, we ordered dessert - a real cannoli. You could tell just by sticking your fork into it that the shells had to have been homemade with the filling freshly piped inside. Needless to say, my parents and myself, when I'm in the neighborhood, look forward to being regulars at Luigi's! Molto Bene!

Incredible dinner this evening! The carbonara was delicious with paper thin slices of ham in a wonderful sauce. The house special "Nonna" was especially yummy with a creamy red sauce and again with the thin ham slices. Ranch salad dressing could be improved though. We will definitely be going back. $100 for 5 people before tip. Good value.

A wonderful find if you are roaming around Rock Hill's Cherry road area. This is an authentic family owned and operated Italian restaurant worthy of your patronage. The menu has everything Italian and it is all good. Lunch is a crowd because local businesses come in and also refer customers who ask for a lunch suggestion. Roberta was our waitress and she was just great. She has been with Luigi's family for over four years and is used to the ooooooos and ahhhhhhhs of customers. They have carbonnara, a nice house marinara and other white and cheese sauces. Pastas covering the whole range, chicken and veal dishes, and lots of sides and deserts. You will have trouble choosing just what to eat, which to me is a great menu. It is in an older shopping center, so is not readily visible from the street. Their arty red - green- white sign on the face of the building is not readable until you study it, so go for the street address to find it. You will be happy that you did. We will continue to patronize Luigi's.

First time at Luigi and Sons. We were looking for a good Italian restaurant in Rock Hill. Looks like we found it. Atmosphere was very nice and the waiter (Roberto) was very polite and helpful. Lasagna was very good. My wife has been looking for a lasagna to compare to what she loved near Pittsburgh three years ago. It's taken 3 years but she has finally found it.

Great family Italian. I really enjoyed this place and ate here while on business in the area. Food was good quality, portions were large and staff was efficient and friendly. Wine selection is a bit limited, but they do have six or so wines available by the glass or carafe. Will certainly go back I'd I'm in the area again.

I just recently moved to the Fort Mill/Rock Hill area and I've been looking for a good Italian spot... Well this is my experience. I walk in and let the hostess know that I want to place a to go order and she just tells me ok and simply walks off and that's fine because she could have just assumed that I was a first time customer so I got her attention and asked if I just go to the "bar" and order. She told me "yeah" so I went to the "bar" and stood while 4 different servers walked by me to punch in things on the computer and no one ever acknowledged my presence or asked if I needed assistance, so giving them the benefit of the doubt I just waited for whomever was supposed to be in charge of taking the to-go orders... After about 5 awkward minutes of standing there trying to make eye contact with any staff willing to take my order I just told one of the young ladies working that "I just want to make a to go order"... This wasn't a very pleasant exchange but I placed the order anyway. I haven't even received my order yet so I decided to write this review while still sitting here in the restaurant. And yes if you work here I am the black guy that came in wearing a "hoody" and Spurs hat... Please do something to improve your customer service with ALL of your customers. I will never spend another dime in this establishment. Dr. Spencer

Olive Garden quality food... Lots of good reviews here and from people in the area - but maybe they don't really understand quality Italian food.

One of my favorite places. It smells like heaven when you walk in. Good staff and great food. It is family owned and I love to help support family owned businesses. I have been eating here for years and I have never had a bad experience. They are always friendly and the food is always delicious.

Our first time visiting this resturant. Didn't even know it was here. Owned by an Italian family. Our waitress's family are the owners. She talked of her mom taking 12 hours to make the homemade lasagne. We had enough to take home for another meal. It was very good. We will be back to try some other dishes. It was got very busy unlike another helper said he never saw anyone there. I think people must have learned about this authentic Italian resturant. Very extensive menu.

We prefer Chicago style pizza, but have to say this is good Italian. The sausage they use is very nicely spiced and makes a great pizza. I love the Antipasto salad. Salad for two is a meal for both of you. It comes with a variety of ingredients, good meats and a yummy dressing. We recently made a to go order, and everything was just as good. The salad was again full of quality ingredients and very attractively packaged and the pizza was very good. I did not like the thin crust veggie pizza as the veggies were too crisp but the pizza was soggy. Everything else has been great though. We usually have great service but on occasion it can be a little slow. We will be going back again and again.

I'm a big fan of searching for and trying local, good restaurants that deserve my business. Unfortunately, there are not many in Rock Hill and Fort Mill. Recently, I did try this Italian restaurant. It's not new and I've driven by it many times. I'm not sure why I never ate here sooner. I ordered a 16" pizza with pepperoni for takeout. It was $14 plus tax. The pie was very tasty and definitely on the large size. The crust was thick (just the way I like it) with just the right amount of cheese, but a little skimpy on the sauce. I guess I never ordered here before because I never see this place busy. And when I picked up the pizza, there were maybe three tables occupied. I will definitely eat in next time and try something other than pizza. I'm looking forward to it. I hope I'm not disappointed. I do recommend Luigi's. It' is definitely a step above the franchises and fast food restaurants to choose from in this area.

I actually think the food is exceptional and look forward to returning. But this place has a nasty habit of "dropping" dinner orders. I.e., you place an order and over an hour later the server begins creating increasingly ornate and contradictory excuses as to why the meals aren't ready. Meanwhile guests who arrived after us have already been served their appetizers and entrees. The last (of several times) this happened they admitted to giving "our" orders to a larger party, even though they had arrived later. The first come, first serve philosophy takes a back seat to friends of the owner first, everyone else: take it to go.

This Place deserves 3.75 yelp Stars... It is better than 3 stars, though I can not say I'm a fan! Might be a fan of the service it was pretty good. It has been more than 10 years since I've had great pizza and it is sad to say I've eaten a lot of pizza in a lot of different places (three time zones) though never NY nor Chicago. I'm glad to say this pizza I had today was better than ALL I have had in the Charlotte Area, Including Salisbury, and Concord - I like a fairly strict Mozzeralla Cheese (no blends please). This is what I had today Great Cheese, good, not very good not great crust - It was the right thickness and the right texture (not too crunchy not too soft) though it lacked the flavor of better ones. The sauce was OK, not A- OK just OK. There Garlic bread was better than good and their House dressing was not!!! Marinara Sauce was very good, not great, yet very good! The Decor is tacky which in this case is extra points in my book.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
